“My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep...

Growing up in the church has its perks.
Pam: I'd also like to say a few words if that's okay.
Pam: What do we know about this bird? You might think, "Not much. It's just a bird." But we do know some things. We know it was a local bird. Maybe it's that same bird that surprised Oscar that one morning with a special present from above.
Kevin: Oh, I remember that. That was SO funny.
Pam: And we know how he died. Flying into the glass doors. But you know what? I don't think he was being stupid. I think he just really, really wanted to come inside our building to spread his cheer and lift our spirits with a song.
Dwight: He's not a songbird.
Pam: An impression, then. Lastly, we can't help but notice that he was by himself when he died, but of course, we all know that doesn't mean he was alone. Because I'm sure that there were lots of other birds out there who cared for him very much. He will not be forgotten.
Angela: [quickly] Amen.
Dwight: [begins playing recorder]
Pam: [singing] Just smile for me and let the day begin. You are the sunshine that lights my heart within... on the wings of love ...
Michael: Society teaches us that having feelings and crying is bad and wrong. Well, that's baloney, because grief isn't wrong. There is such a thing as good grief. Just ask Charlie Brown.
The Office - "I wish there was a way to know...
Just wanted to start off with a disclaimer, this will probably be a little lengthy. It will basically be a jumbled mess of my thoughts on the series finale of The Office last night and what this show has meant to me over the years. With that being said I would like to start with a quote that best sums up my feelings after last nights series finale episode. “I do not fear the unknown. I will...
I’m slowly still processing everything from The Office series finale tonight. I love that Michael came back! But I don’t know, for whatever reason it still hasn’t sunk in yet that its all over. And to be completely honest I thought I was going to be a wreck but I didn’t tear up once. I’m sure it will all hit me in the morning. I just need to give it time to sink in a...
I wish you knew you were in the good old days before you actually left them– Andy Bernard aka The Nard Dog (via padillafl)
Michael: What if this doesn't work? What if the office actually goes under?
Dwight: Then it was an honor to have worked with you.
Michael: [pats Dwight and sighs] All right, favorite moments in Dunder-Mifflin history. Go.
Dwight: My first day when you hazed me by spraying me with a fire extinguisher.
Michael: That was hilarious. The foam ...
Dwight: Uh,... my first sale, my promotion to assistant regional manager, our basketball game, when you took me to the hospital, and told me that you cared about me.
Michael: Oh, right. Okay, that's enough. That's good.
Dwight: What were your favorite moments?
Michael: Oh, hmm, all of them. I loved them all. Every single one.

Ok so after thinking about it I’m gonna stay home tomorrow night and watch The Office and not worry about that Jenny & Tyler show. After thinking about it more I just don’t think its a good idea to drive 2 hours with a very attractive girl to a show that will mostly be acoustic love songs then drive two hours back home with that very attractive girl lol. I’ve made this one...
Ok guys I need your advice. So tomorrow night Jenny & Tyler will be playing a house show about 2 hours from where I live. And I thought of someone to go with me, its a really nice girl I went to high school with, and I think we would have a great time. But a part of me is uneasy about it b/c of this one year commitment I made to not dating. We would just be going as friends but I still feel a...
So I might be doing merch for Jenny & Tyler tomorrow night in Ames! The only problem is that I don’t have anyone to go with me….I don’t know what would be more awkward taking a guy friend with me or a girl I’m not dating? If you listen to Jenny & Tyler then you know what I mean lol.

As a youth pastor it can be super discouraging seeing what some of our youth group kids post on Facebook and it’s some of our students who help lead worship. Am I making too big of a deal out of this? It just really bothers me for some reason. I know kids aren’t perfect, but for realz, some of the stuff they post is redonkulous.

John 8:1-11 (esv) - The Woman Caught In Adultery
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such...
